Do you get the feeling that Mother Nature knows what she wants to look like
…especially when she forms trees in her image, similar to how God formed man? Or maybe this is one of the long lost Ent Wives that were lost so long ago in Middle Earth.
Back to the grindstone with the blog
Now that I know that I have at least TWO fans, I might motivate myself to spend a bit more time on the blog. It’s been close to a year since I started, and although I was mostly faithful to the one-a-day post, I’ve gotten pretty lax as of late.
So, to kick things back up in style, I now present to you, the world’s most disgusting slide. Sad to say, it appears there are at least two version of the same “themed slide”. Let your kids enjoy this one!
Another good guide for parenting
…given by the funny people at XKCD! They now give you their guide on how to have a contingency plan if you should happen to have a child rotten to the core. There are ALWAYS options, and this just provides another if you go with their “Jurassic Park” approach!
Apps to use on my iPhone
…range all over the place, but they have just added one that I might have to get…TiltShift!
As I mentioned last week, I enjoy playing around with Tilt-Shift photography. Those lenses to actually make that type of photograph can run all the way up to $3,000…and that is an average. I have even resorted to following one of my favorite magazines, Make!, instructional on how to make a tilt-shift lens out of household materials. By the way, thanks to those who showed me where to find the right type of toilet plunger to make that lens. Anyway, one of the benefits of my new iPhone is the availability of literally TONS of applications people have written. The latest one today basically is the process I used to create my first tilt-shift photograph using Photoshop. So, instead of paying $800 for Photoshop, I can now pay $2 to do it on the iPhone. Talk about a savings! Once I get a good subject, I’ll show you how well the program works.

Nothing cool like this ever happens around Charlotte
…and now I am upset because I always miss the cool things!
The space shuttle Endeavor just returned the other day from its mission to deliver many things, including the new urine converter to make fresh water in space. As it reentered the atmosphere, it created a double sonic boom which frightened more than a few residents of California. There are tons of videos, some even showing the whole house shaking. Funny part is, if you aren’t a firefighter, that the emergency phone lines were flooded with calls because people thought an explosion had happened near them.
NASA needs to build a base outside of Charlotte. Case closed.
No commentsI was requested to post about “Decotora”
…the Japanese version of “Pimp My Ride”.
A friend of mine at work was watching G4 the other night where on “Attack of the Show” they were talking about the Japanese and how they decorate semi-trucks with tons of lights. Wikipedia defines Decotora as “trucks commonly found in Japan that have neon or ultraviolet lights, extravagant paints, and shiny stainless or golden exterior parts”. The funny part is, during the night, these trucks are not allowed on the roads due to being a crash hazard with the amount of lights blinding other drivers. I don’t know a whole lot more, but enjoy the pictures nonetheless!

No commentsTime for some old school ‘rithmetic
…at least, back from the 1940s.
Introducing Ma & Pa Kettle with their backwards view of math….enjoy!
No commentsDo you remember all the fuss made over pencils used on ScanTron tests
…well, maybe the true reason isn’t that the machine won’t recognize the pencil lead, but that it could cause a catastrophic explosion as seen in XKCD‘s comic.
Everytime I took a ScanTron test, the teachers harped incessantly about using a #2 pencil. I mean, what would happen if you didn’t? You would fail if you didn’t have one because the reader couldn’t see the graphite? The paper would disintegrate due to the sheer amounts of pressure applied under a harder lead? The tectonic plates would shift causing the big earthquake that’s due any day in Charleston? The world economy would collapse? Oh wait, that last one is in the process…Anyway, quite a funny take on the subject in the comic.
